A Family Heirloom
Hi, we are Chris, JoAnne, and Emma Nicole Keim. We hope you enjoy your stay here. Our goal is to provide you with a clean, inviting place to slow down, relax, enjoy nature, and reconnect with your spouse, God, or simply have a great time with your family or friends.
This property is rich in family history with JoAnne’s family and is an heirloom that we got with JoAnne’s home property when we bought it in 2020, as her parents were ready to downsize and move to a smaller property. They now live right next door to us in a smaller Doddy house. One of the things we enjoy doing as a couple for fun is repurposing something to make it better. We also enjoy meeting new people, getting to know people, and learning about different cultures. So that combination of interests is what brought us to today where we now host guests and allow them to enjoy this family heirloom in a unique setting and we welcome you to The Oakleaf Hideaway!
A bit of history on the cabin: For several years JoAnne's family wanted to create an area in there woods that they could enjoy as a family - "a place to gather as a family and enjoy each other’s company and simply to enjoy their woods more". In 2001, JoAnne’s parents made a clearing, and her Dad, Henry, built this cabin that is now The Oakleaf Hideaway. With a background of many years in construction, who would be a better fit than he himself to spearhead this project — JoAnne was 7 years old at the time, and still remembers the whole family working together and the walls going up one log at a time. In 2005, they decided to add the pavilion for extra space for shelter while camping. As a family they have enjoyed many campouts, many tents have been pitched in the yard, and many stories have been shared around the campfire.
In the fall of 2022, we started the project, and after working through some delays due to Chris’ health, finally, in July of 2023, we were able to wrap it up. We put an addition on the old cabin and opened it up to the public, so they can get to enjoy our setting while having all the privacy they want to relax and rejuvenate their minds. This brings us to today.
We welcome you to The Oakleaf Hideaway! We hope you can enjoy this as much as we have over the years.
